1973 AMC Javelin

MASSACHUSETTS, USA

Car Story

1973 AMC Javelin wypatrzony w Północnej Billerice w 2013 roku.

W ogromnym skrócie AMC czyli American Motors Corporation to ten czwarty z Wielkiej Trójki, powstał w 1954 roku w wyniku fuzji Nasha i Hudsona.

Sorry for the quality of images from my cell, but when you go to a "you pull" junkyard you rather take your toolbox then camera. I’ve almost dropped the toolbox on my foot when I saw this car. Even if this picture was a total mess I would still post it, in the end, how often do you see a product of AMC? Very rarely, almost never - in my case this is probably the first AMC ever.
While preparing to write this story, I went through all my pictures that are awaiting for publication and did not found a single AMC. Scrapping this Javelin seems little drastic, maybe it wasn’t great, but since it raises that blue Pontiac on its roof, maybe it wasn’t so bad either?

Two questions - what is AMC and what an invention is Javelin?

Long story short, AMC - American Motors Corporation was the fourth of the Big Three, it was founded in 1954 by the merger of Nash and Hudson. Roughly between 1958-67 products of AMC were called Ramblers. AMC was sometimes profitable and ceased to exist in 1987 when it was bought by Chrysler, which was mainly interested in acquiring Jeep, although some models were produced further under the name of Eagle.

Javelin was produced from 1967 (model'68) to 1974 as competition for such "pony cars" like  Mustang or Camaro. Javelin had all the characteristics of its genre: sports figure, one pair of doors and a choice of engines from economy to high performance.

Last picture from 2013, all the rest from 2014.
