1968 Buick Electra 225

POLAND, EUROPE

Car Story

Samochód trafił do Polski w stanie wojennym. Samochód sprowadziło małżeństwo w średnim wieku z Niemiec. Ponieważ cło na silniki V8 było horrendalne, więc kupiło przed granica silnik diesla Perkins, przełożyło go do Buicka, silnik V8 wylądował w bagażniku. Później sprzedali go ojcu aktualnego właściciela.

I heard about this car at the first time in 1997. My colleague worked at this time in the Lubelszczyzna region and spotted this car. A half year later the car owner called to me. He needed some parts for his car and some contacts to other mad men :)

So we made an appointment. Later we went for a big trip through Poland. Today you can't imagine, but at this time there were no highways nor expressways. The road trip took a half day. We started morning and we came to the place afternoon.

I looked at his car and the owner told to me the car story.

The car was imported into Poland in the war time period. A middle aged marriage imported the car from Germany. The customs for V8 engines was horrendous so they pulled out the original V8 engine and inserted another engine, a Perkins diesel engine. The V8 engine landed in the baggage rack. Some time later they sold the car to the father of the actual owner. The car was used daiuly through the decade. By the end, in 1992 the car broke down because of lack of important parts.

After years, as I pushed the owner into car repairing, the owner and his neighbours can feast their eyes with this Buick.
