1953 Willys M38A1

MASSACHUSETTS, USA

Car Story

  Willys M38A1 (Jeep) wypatrzony w Bostonie w 2011 roku.

Charlestown zostało założone w 1628 roku a w 1874 przyłączone do Bostonu. Wojskowa stocznia okrętowa została oficjalnie zamknięta w 1974 roku i przekształcona w muzeum.

Niszczyciel „Cassin Young” zbudowano w Kalifornii w 1943 roku i służył aktywnie do roku 1960.

Willys M38A1 (Jeep) spotted in Boston, MA, in 2011.

This "1/4 Ton 4×4 Utility Truck" was made in 1953 and, as you can see, it belongs to the U.S. Navy. Jeep was parked in the Boston Navy Yard, which is also known as the Charlestown Navy Yard. Charlestown was founded in 1628 and annexed by Boston in 1874. Shipyard was officially closed as an active naval installation in 1974 and converted into a museum, to be part of Boston National Historical Park.

Plate attached to the front of the car shows its affiliation to the USS "Cassin Young". Destroyer "Cassin Young" was built in California in 1943 and was in active service until 1960. Currently the ship is in dry dock and is under renovation (pictured in 2011). Apart from Cassin, Boston Navy Yard is also home to the USS "Constitution" – wooden-hulled, three-masted heavy frigate – world's oldest commissioned naval vessel afloat!

Jeep has already been pictured by others many times, so you can find more photos on the net.
I wonder whether the "affiliation" of the Jeep for Cassin is something special, or is it just a stylish decoration "of the era"?
