1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye

Historic Overview:

The R/T version was no longer available and was replaced by the Rallye one, more like a shallow appearance package than a real sports version and much less appealling as well, which could be ordered with the 318 and 340 Magnum V8 engines, except the 225 Slant Six.

Also, the convertible bodywork was not available anymore, as well as a big range of engine choices - such as the 440 and Hemi ones - due to the new pollution and insurance companies regulamentations.

However, there were some new cosmetic changes, such as new shark-looking front grille, new  front and rear bumpers, and new rear-end with double lights. The 1972 model brought in some radical changes for the Challenger image as now it had a much more luxury than sports appeal, consequently sales naturally dropped and that was the very premature end of a classic.
