1974 Dodge Challenger Rallye

Historic Overview:

For 1974 the Challenger remained practically unaltered in comparison to the 1973 model and would be discontinued by the end of the year.

For this year, the 340 V8 engine was not available anymore, leaving 318 and 360 V8 alone as the only engine choices and as they could be ordered with any transmission and any package. The 360 V8 could still offer some decent performance, but that wasn't enough to bring more buyers.

Sales continued going downhill due to the oil crisis and they also nearly dropped by the half in compasion to the previous year, therefore there were no reasons to keep such a car in production under those circunstances.

The name Challenger would reappear on the market in 1978 as a sporty appearance package for Mitsubishi Galant Lambda coupe (officially sold in the US by Dodge), bringing bright colors choices and decorative tape stripes, but nothing compared to the original classic.
