Beniamin Cichoński portrays 1958 Ford Fairlane (1993r.)

Oto zdjęcia Forda Fairlane z 1958, na którego natrafiłem w czasach gdy chodziłem jeszcze do średniej. Było to w Cieplicach, dzielnicy Jeleniej Góry.
   Stały tam właściwie dwa samochody, ten 4-drzwiowy oraz 2-drzwiowy bez dachu (widać jego czerwony tył po prawej na 2 pierwszych zdjęciach), który należał kiedyś do Pana Roberta Jakucia i którego historia jest opisana.
   W czasach kiedy zrobiłem te zdjęcia, z 2-drzwiowego Fairlane'a było już wszystko wybebeszone i magazynowane w garażu wlaściciela, a przednie błotniki i deska rozdzielcza były przełożone do tego 4-drzwiowego. Fairlane miał silnik i skrzynię od Żuka (sic!), nawet raz miałem przyjemność nim jechać, mało się wówczas nie zatruliśmy spalinami, bo wydech był dziurawy a szyby się nie otwierały :)
   Auto robiło wtedy na nas niesamowite wrażenie swoimi kształtami i rozmiarami, ale trzeba przyznać, że było w bardzo kiepskim stanie technicznym i grubo poszpachlowane. Nie wspominając o przyciętych ogonach :(((
   Ostatni raz widziałem je jakieś 2 lata po zrobieniu tych zdjęć. Wówczas było w trakcie montażu silnika i skrzyni biegów od Merca 280S, ale jakie były dalsze jego losy, Bóg raczy wiedzieć...

  Here are the pictures of the Ford Fairlane '58 I stumbled upon in Cieplice, a district of city of Jelenia Góra, when I was still in high school.
   Actually, there were two vehicles parked there: one 4-door and the other 2-door convertible (her tail can be seen on the two first pics.), that belonged to Mr. Robert Jakuć and whose story is told hereafter.
   When I was taking these shots, the 2-door had been literally gutted and dismantled parts were being stored in the owner's garage. However, front fenders and gauge panel had been retrofitted onto the 4-door. The Fairlane had a regretful Polish pickup Żuk motor and gear box put under the hood. I had a doubtful pleasure of being driven in the car once and I had almost suffocated from the exhaust coming out from riddled with holes exhaust pipe. The side windows didn't slide down either which was an evident bummer in the situation.
    The car's size and design were really impressive, however, it must be noted that the car mechanics was in poor repair and the body was in awful shape too, most of it covered with refinishing putty, not to mention cut off tails :((
    Last time I saw this car was two years after I originally took these pictures. At that point in time, a Merc 280S motor and gear box were being retrofitted under the hood. God only knows what happened to the car next...
