Beniamin Cichoński portretuje Chevroleta Impalę 1968 (1994r.)
Był to tzw. Dzień Nauczyciela! Czyli wolny od szkoly! Postanowiliśmy z kolegą zbadać ogłoszenie z prasy: Chevrolet Impala rocznik 1968.
Auto stało w Nowej Rudzie, więc czekała nas niezwykle krajobrazowa trasa koleją relacji Jelenia Góra-Wałbrzych-Nowa Ruda, gdzie po drodze było kilka tuneli. Po przybyciu porozglądaliśmy się po malowniczym ryneczku i nabijaliśmy się z niecodziennego położenia miasta w dolinie między dwoma pasmami gór, gdzie słońce wschodzi w poludnie by zaraz schować się znowu za górą :)
Miejsce, gdzie stała Impala było na wylocie z miasta, wiec czekało nas parę km "z buta", bowiem komunikacja publiczna coś szwankowała. Impala, mimo że niekompletna, robiła piorunujące wrażenie, rozparta na klikunastu metrach kwadratowych trawnika. Był to tzw. Sport Sedan czyli 4 drzwiowy hardtop, moja ulubiona wersja. Wlaściciel twierdził, że auto jest kompletne, a wszystkie części ma w garażu.
Jednakże fura była wówczas poza zasięgiem naszego budżetu, tym bardziej że nie była na chodzie :( Dlatego po puszczeniu wodzy marzeń i nasyceniu oczu linią nadwozia, zwinęliśmy się do domu.

It was on the so called Teachers' Day! That meant a day off from school! Together with my pals we set our minds on checking out a car classified add in a local newspaper: someone put up a Chevrolet Impala '68 on sale in a township of Nowa Ruda.
In order to get there we had to take a train from the city of Jelenia Góra through Wałbrzych. The trip was quite an experience, because of the surrounding beautiful mountain landscape, switchback train tracks encircling tree covered hills and a couple of tunnels. Upon arrival we crossed the town to the central market square and had a big laugh out of the town location between two mountain ranges where the sun actually "rose" at noon to quickly "set" behind the other range.
The Impala owner lived on the outskirts of the town and since city transportation was scarce we had nothing else but to hike there per pedes. Although the Impala we finally saw was missing a few parts she impressed us greatly. She literally took a space of several square meters. She was a sports sedan version, a 4-door hardtop - a beauty that has always been my favorite model. The owner had claimed that he had all the missing parts in the garage.
Unfortunately, the ride was beyond our budget ability; besides, it was not running. So after fantasizing how great it would have been to own such wheels and after having pleased our eyes with the design, we had to give up and returned home.
