Dawno, dawno temu, jeszcze w 2003 roku korespondowałem z pewnym Amerykaninem na temat jego De Soto. Samochód był do sprzedania za 300 dolarów i był we wschodniej części stanu Iowa, nieopodal miasta Davenport.
Info o wozie odnalazłem przez przypadek, jak szukałem innego mejla. Byłem święcie przekonany, że te majle się zagubiły. Adres mejlowy był od dawna nieaktualny i jedyne co wiem, to samochód powędrował potem do Norwegii.
W opisie z mejla, przednie błotniki mają rdzę nad przednimi światłami, konieczne jest ich zespawanie. Zaś tylne błotniki są zardzewiałe w dolnych partiach.
Olistwowanie jest na swoim miejscu i w większości w dobrym stanie, podobnie jak przednie nadkola.
Przednia szyba jest dziurawa. Wnętrze wymaga kapitalnego remontu, głównie z powodu intensywnego i długiego nasłonecznienia. Bak paliwa został wymontowany, rdza zjadła zawiesia na bak. Bak jest generalnie w porządku, choć warto byłoby go uszczelnić.
Pozostałe szyby są w porządku. Silnik V8 o pojemności 361 cali sześciennych nie był odpalany od 25 lat. Stan skrzyni na guziki (pushbutton) jest nieznany.

Once time ago, in 2003 I corresponded with an American owner of the 1961 De Soto. The car was for sale for $ 300 and was located in the eastern part of Iowa, near Davenport.
I found the info about the car quite accidentally searching for another mail. I was very convinced to have lost these mails.
The email address was for a long time out of date. I only know that the car was later gone to Norway.
In the description, the front fenders have rust holes above the headlights, you have to weld patches in.
The rear quarter panels have rust in the bottoms, likewise some parts of the rocker panels. All trim pieces are there, mostly in good shape save the passenger front wheel well molding. The windshield has a hole in it, and the interior is in need of complete restoration due to exposure for several years. The fuel tank is off the car, rust ate away the hanging straps. The tank seems structurally sound, but should probably be sealed.
The remaining glass is good. The 361 CID V-8 hasn't been turned over for about 25 years. The condition of the pushbutton auto trans is also unknown.
